Dr. Zoom Productions is a dynamic company that focuses on visual strategies, film and television productions. Swiss-born Alberto Engeli manages Dr. Zoom Productions.

Alberto Engeli is an award winning Videographer/Director/Editor with extensive Hollywood experience. He is the recipient of 3 Telly awards and an Aegis award.

Engeli’s professional birth began in Milan, Italy, where in 1980 he started working for the first independent Italian center for television production. There he had the honor of working with the first Betacam exclusive to the Italian market.

In 1982, he created and directed the first TV fashion show for TeleMontecarlo, a private Italian network. Engeli worked as a director for fashion shows of Italy’s top designers: Armani, Versace, Missoni, Ferrè, etc.

In 1994, he moved to Los Angeles to follow his dreams and start working with different European television stations. He became a naturalized citizen in 2004.

Since 1994, Engeli has been covering the Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, for RAI Italian TV.

In 2010, he shot and edited a hard news story in Haiti two days after the catastrophic 7.0 earthquake. Engeli was there for around a month, capturing the aftermath of the disaster.

In 2012, he shot and edited a 103-minute documentary “Atlantic – Pacific, The Last Train for Obama” for La7, an Italian network. This was a 23-day cross-country trip by train.

In 2015, he conceived the idea to interview Swiss emigrants 50 years after the original format, “Get Together for Christmas” documentaries, broadcasted for Swiss TV. Since 2015, Engeli has traveled across America, Australia, and Canada to shoot these documentaries for Swiss TV that is broadcasted during the holiday season. The next stop is South America!

In 2016, he filmed and shot a news story in Cuba regarding the meeting between Barack Obama and Raul Castro, and later the Rolling Stones concert.

In 2019, he conceived, directed, and edited a documentary for the 50th anniversary of Woodstock. He interviewed musicians such as Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady, and John Sebastian. He interviewed Ticia Agri, Michael Lang’s assistant and Mike Frankel, Jefferson Airplane’s photographer. Engeli also featured the couple from the original LP cover.

His body of work ranges from entertainment news, travel shows, corporate videos (ex. Mercedes and Lamborghini), films, documentaries, music documentaries, broadcast news (ex. the last 6 USA elections, 9/11 in NY, and 4 World Cup Soccer’s), live events (ex. Montreux Jazz Festival), and many more. He directs sport shows, music videos and works for different types of programs. You can view samples of his career’s labor in the video section and view his virtual resume/CV at the bottom of this page.

From 2008 until 2015 he lived between Los Angeles and New York, but he worked in countries such as Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Haiti, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Switzerland, Turkey, and everywhere in the United States. In 2016 he moved to Asbury Park, NJ to live the music scene, since he’s a fan of Bruce Springsteen. Engeli actually shot the above video of Springsteen on this homepage.

He has been working internationally throughout his long career. He travels frequently and his love for travel allows him to specialize in travel videos. Engeli is fluent in English, Italian, French, and Spanish, and is available anywhere in the world.

He enjoys working with new people and making their projects captivating pieces of art. He gets along with everyone he works with, regardless of his or her temperament. He works very quickly and within deadlines, and is proficient with Multicam editing as well as Color. He gives every job his all; this is where his energy, his passion, and his commitment lie.

Why the name Dr. Zoom? For two reasons:
The first is because Alberto Engeli’s professional background is in photography.
The second is much more exotic, yet simpler at the same time. “Stealing” the name of one of Bruce Springsteen’s bands, “Dr. Zoom and the Sonic Boom,” Alberto is “Born to Run” and has come to this “Promised Land” to “Follow his dreams” with the desire to produce a special first of its kind event with Bruce.

Apart from his professional accomplishments, Alberto Engeli is a proud father of two, Pierre and Sabrina. In his free time he enjoys volunteering for the Asbury Park Music Foundation and filming concerts for them. He is an avid concertgoer and you can catch him at the Paramount Theatre, Stone Pony, Wonder Bar, and other venues.

  Alberto Engeli

I have the ability to tell a story visually incorporating all forms of media and styles.

I can cut footage like a surgeon or shoot pictures like a sniper,
and create stories that challenge people to think.

My greatest communication tools are a keyboard and/or a camera,
my editing and my shooting are "bleeding edge", and I realize that when it comes
to telling a story visually, less is more.

I know how to make Final Cut Pro and/or my camera sing and dance,
as "The Boss" does with his guitar, and easily embrace new Production Technologies.

Instead of a video containing several clips of my various shooting and editing work, I prefer to use this clip as my reel.
I visualized, shot, edited and color-corrected it (using FCP/Color Corrector).

By the way, the train conductor shown in this clip is me ... a cameo.
